A bright fireball streaked over Metro Vancouver shortly after 9:00 PM PST on March 4, followed minutes later by a powerful sonic boom that rattled homes from the Fraser Valley to Washington State. The shockwave was strong enough to register on multiple seismographs across British Columbia. A seismologist with Natural Resources Canada confirmed it was a bolide, a chunk of asteroid or comet burning up in Earth's atmosphere. The International Meteor Organization received over a dozen fireball reports from witnesses across the region.
