Suspected
Eagle Mountain, UT — Suspected UTTR Detonation
March 09, 2026
Detected at
01:48 PM MST
March 09, 2026 (20:48 UTC)
Estimated Intensity
Very Strong (8/10)
A very strong traffic spike was detected across the Salt Lake Valley on the afternoon of March 9, with spiking cells in Bountiful, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, and West Jordan. Hill Air Force Base announced large detonation operations at the Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR) in the West Desert, roughly 80 miles west of Salt Lake City, with one or two weekly detonations planned through September 2026 to destroy obsolete DoD rocket motors. The timing (1:48 PM MST on a Monday) and the broad detection pattern along the Wasatch Front are consistent with a UTTR detonation, which routinely produces booms and vibrations felt across northern Utah.
